Privacy Policy

Account: your email address and name, or your Google account name and email if you sign in with Google.

Trip details: itinerary events you add, such as flights, hotels, transfers, activities, booking references, times and places.

Booking emails: the text of confirmation emails you paste or forward to your trip inbox, so we can pull out your bookings.

Messages: group chat messages you send to people on your trip.

Journal and countries: travel journal entries and the countries you log. Only you can see these.

Location: only if you tap "Share my location with the trip". Your location is shared with the people on that trip and updated while the app is open. It is not collected in the background. Tap "Stop sharing" to remove it at any time.

Motion sensors: only if you turn on the step counter. Your step counts stay on your device and are not sent to us.

To provide the app: show your itinerary, sync it with your travel companions, send disruption alerts, show weather, directions, recommendations and exchange rates, and answer your questions in the travel assistant.

We do not use your data to track you across other apps or websites.

We use trusted providers only to run the features you use:

• Hosting and database: our cloud provider stores your account and trip data securely.
• AI processing: the text of booking emails, and your itinerary when you use the assistant, is sent to an AI provider to extract bookings or answer questions. It is not used to train their models.
• FlightAware: flight numbers and dates, to get live flight status.
• Google Maps Platform: destination names, for weather, maps, directions and recommendations.
• ExchangeRate-API: currency codes, for exchange rates.
• Jitsi: if you join a video call, it runs on Jitsi's service under their privacy policy.
• Email forwarding (CloudMailin): emails you forward to your trip inbox pass through this service.

Trip details, chat messages and shared locations are visible to everyone you invite to that trip. Anyone who has your trip's invite link or forwarding address can join or add bookings, so share them only with people you trust.

We save a copy of your trip, forecasts and settings on your device so the app works offline. This is removed if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete events, journal entries, countries and trips inside the app at any time. To delete your whole account and all its data straight away, open the Trip tab and tap "Delete my account". You can also email us at privacy@mrtravelpants.app.

Depending on where you live (for example under UK or EU GDPR, or California law), you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, or object to how we use it. Contact us to do this. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Data is sent over encrypted connections, and access is restricted so only you and the people on your trips can see your trip data.

MrTravelPants is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app for important changes.
